Report about our Castles and Spas cycling tour around West Hungary

This is a report about our Castles and Spas around West Hungary cycling tour, written by one of our kind guests to a travel agent of ours:

“First of all I would like to say, that this vacation was the best I’ve ever had. I booked it with very short notice and you made every effort to accommodate me, thank you. Your travel information was very helpful for my arrival and stay in Budapest, Hungary.

When I arrived in Budapest I took the airport shuttle to the hotel, which was very reasonably priced for the distance traveled. After a brief rest, I contacted Peter and Marietta the tour guides. From the first time I spoke with them I knew I would be in good hands. To say they were very accommodating, would be an understatement!!! I can’t commend this couple enough. If the tour had ended after the first day of travel, I felt that the wonderful memories and experiences already gained would have made the vacation complete. But knowing it would go on for 10 more incredible days, made this an experience of a lifetime!!!

The bikes that they provided were in very good condition, with all modern components. Since I ride a lot, I chose to bring my own pedals and seat, which they had no problem fitting to the bikes. The shuttle van that they used between riding points was very clean and big enough to seat the entire group. Both Peter and Marietta were very knowledgeable about the history and regions we visited. I would also like to add that their English was outstanding.

The mansions and castles that we stayed in were incredible and the food was what you would expect to eat in the finest gourmet restaurant. The entire group opted to take the picnic lunch, which was well worth it and perfectly suited for a day of riding through the country side.

The churches were breathtaking, it brought a tear to my eye to experience the beauty and craftsmanship of the architecture. The museums were incredible and Peter was very knowledgeable about the history of Hungary. And after a day of touring and riding what could be more relaxing than a thermal bath which we did 5 times throughout the tour. On the days that we did not visit a thermal bath you still had the option of a sauna at the hotel.

Oh!!! I almost forgot the best part, “wine tasting,” since I’m half Italian I do enjoy my vino. We experienced three evenings of wine tasting followed by an exceptional dinner. Not to say there wasn’t wine at every meal, because there was definitely never a shortage.

Well I think this is enough said, though I am not covering everything I experienced in the tour, I will say that it was all spectacular.

And last, it was great meeting people from around the world. We had a group of nine, five of which were from the U.S., two from Canada and two from England, it was also nice that there wasn’t a language barrier. We have all exchanged e-mails and will continue to correspond, who knows we may just travel together again someday.

Being that this was my first bike tour and the experience was so incredible, I fear that tours to follow may not be as good. I surely hope that I am wrong, but one thing for sure, I will always have wonderful memories of this one.

Best Regards,

Rudy ”
