Thank you both so much for such wonderful hospitality in your beautiful country.

Your careful planning and organisation meant that everything went smoothly (including the weather). The bikeriding was so much fun, the picnics delicious, as were all the meals, and you kept your senses of humour throughout, no matter how much we misbehaved! Peter, you might have thought your history lessons were lost on us, but not at all - your passion was inspiring!

Thank you again for such an exceptional holiday. I hope we meet again, much love:

Gillian M.

Dear Peter and Marietta,

I have had the most fabulous time with you, cycling in Hungary. You have both looked after us all so well. The hotels have been great and the scenery very beautiful. I will return to Adelaide much fitter and with wonderful memories.

With best wishes:

Sue M.

Here we would like to provide some interesting information about the many sights that you can see if you cycle with us in Hungary on our different tours:

Castles and Spas around West Hungary

Did you know?

…that during this tour we visit Hungary’s 3 richest towns of historic buildings: Budapest, Sopron and Győr…

…that Győr is the meetingpoint of the Danube, Rába and Rábca rivers, and various historic ages meet here too, represented by the romanesque basilica and baroque masterpieces.

…already the Celts and later the Romans lived here and called the town Arrabona, and later our first king St Steven donated this propety to a German knight:Győr, who helped the king stabilizing his reign….

…that in the 11. century Cathedral of Győr is one of the most famous masterpiece of the medieval Hungarian goldsmith-art: the golden mask of another outstanding Hungarian king, St Ladislaus who canonised St Steven in 1083.

…that in the cathedral is a thomb of a martyr archbishop, Vilmos Apor, who was killed by the Russian soldiers when he tried to save the local ladies…

…that still in the cathedral is a Wheeping Virgin Mary picture, which was brought there by bishop Lynch Walter from Ireland, in 1649, and in 1697. on St Patrick’s day bloody teardrops were found below the picture, that are still in the church on a small kerchief…

…that both the Cathedral and the Carmelite Cloister of Győr were wisited by pope II. John Paul in 1997.

…that the Carmelitans settled down in Győr in the 17th century, to establish a monastery, and the Carmelite closter where we stay here on our cycle tour, was built from 1714-till 1734. and even the horse chestnut tree in the courtyard was planted at this time…

…it will be continued soon…

“First of all I would like to say, that this vacation was the best I’ve ever had. I booked it with very short notice and you made every effort to accommodate me, thank you. Your travel information was very helpful for my arrival and stay in Budapest, Hungary.

When I arrived in Budapest I took the airport shuttle to the hotel, which was very reasonably priced for the distance traveled. After a brief rest, I contacted Peter and Marietta the tour guides. From the first time I spoke with them I knew I would be in good hands. To say they were very accommodating, would be an understatement!!! I can’t commend this couple enough. If the tour had ended after the first day of travel, I felt that the wonderful memories and experiences already gained would have made the vacation complete. But knowing it would go on for 10 more incredible days, made this an experience of a lifetime!!!
